Get to know our Staff

The Innis Arden tennis program serves both adults and youth in our community. Innis Arden tennis has been fortunate to have ‘homegrown’ talent in our coaching staff for the last several years as most of our coaches have played tennis locally at Innis Arden and Shorewood High School.

Cameron McDowell, our head coach, runs the youth program. Max Marx is our new adult coach. And, this year, we also welcome Lauren Rutter to our staff. Cameron and Lauren compete on a 9.0 mixed doubles team as partners!

Head Coach

Head Coach Cameron McDowell is a graduate of Shorewood High school and Santa Clara University.   Cameron was the coach for the Santa Clara club tennis team which was voted "Tennis Club of the Year" in Northern California.  Cameron is planning to start his masters degree in education this summer in addition to coaching at IA. This is his seventh year as the Head Coach at Innis. He has been coaching Varsity for two years at Lincoln highschool and has been recently teaching at Shorewood High School.

Lauren Rutter

Assistant Coach

Lauren Rutter is a Shorecrest High School and Gonzaga University graduate. At Shorecrest she played 4 years of varsity, and continued to play on the club tennis team at GU where she competed at Nationals her senior year. Lauren currently teaches middle school mathematics in Mukilteo at Harbour Pointe Middle School.

Max Marx

USTA Instructor & Adult Coach

Max Marx is our newest adult instructor. He has worked with a large amount of the North Seattle tennis community for the last 5 years giving private instruction to individuals and groups. He currently plays on multiple USTA teams with or against our other coaches Cameron and Lauren. We are excited to have him on board here at IATC!
